Volleyball

back to events page...

As there are many different types of rules for volleyball (beach, picnic, official) a 'friendly' version of the game has been devised to accomodate the level of play. The rules are as follows:
  • Each team will play one match to 15 points (2 clear points, or first to 2 clear points or 17) against the other league members
  • A team consists of any number of people but must consist of no more than 6 players on court at any one time
  • A team can consist of any male/female combination with no minimum requirement
  • Substitution may only be carried out on receipt of serve
  • Rotate on receipt of serve
  • The serve must clear the net on the first serve into the playing area of the opponent. No second serve is allowed
  • No spiking or blocking the serve
  • No time outs called by the teams
  • Obvious carries, catches, throws, foot faults, or collisions with the net should be called by the umpire. Minor infringements of these types can be ignored as long as one team is not gaining an unfair advantage, and the decisions are consistent for the match.
  • Each team should provide at least 1 umpire/linesman for any game they are not competing in (even after they have been knocked out please).
