Last Update: 18 - 08 - 2004 | Return to Stanton Home

The 2004-2005 Cricket competition has been won by the team from MATC who defeated COAM in a close final.

MATC took the bat first and set a reasonable pace sandwiched between two high scoring opening and closing overs for the loss of only two wickets to set COAM a target of 121 to win.

After a bright start which saw COAM reach 72 runs from the first eight overs the MATC bowlers took control of the game with some controlled play allowing COAM to only pick up 20 runs from the following eight overs rendering the target unachievable.

Law changes for Stanton Trophy competition

The laws of the game are the same as in normal cricket but for some minor modifications:

1:) There will be a limit to the bowlers run up. It can be no longer than 6 yards. A line on the outfield will indicate this position.

2:) An innings will consist of 20, 6 ball overs. Any wides or no balls will count as 2 runs plus any extra runs that are achieved. No extra ball will be bowled except in the final over of an innings.

3:) No bowler may bowl more than four overs in an innings.

4:) No batsman may score more than 25 runs on any one visit to the crease. On the fall of the final wicket for the team any retired batsmen may return until he has scored a further 25 runs, at which point he will again be retired if there is another retired batsmen available. If there are no further batsmen available he may continue his innings until the end of the teams innings.
